German police will carry out a fresh search in Portugal this week in connection with the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.Authorities will look in Praia da Luz, where she was last seen in the Algarve more than 20 years ago.On 3 May 2007, Madeleine was only three years old when she disappeared from a holiday apartment building.She went missing which led to an investigation throughout Europe and made it one of the most well-known cases of someone missing around the globe
Officials from the Met Police stated they are not involved in the new search; however, they know that German authorities are conducting it.We know the BKA (German federal police) is searching in Portugal linked to their inquiry into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.Authorities in Germany said on Tuesday that “as part of investigating the Madeleine McCann case, Portugal has criminal proceedings underway.”It was mentioned that the investigation was being supported by Portuguese police.A search for bodies will happen again on Tuesday, for the first time in two years. The last search near the remote dam happened about 40 minutes away from the place Madeleine was last seen.The local media says that search teams will now concentrate their efforts along the route between her family’s resort and where the main suspect for the German case resided.In 2020, German authorities named him, since he was already in prison for raping an American tourist in Portugal back in 2005. No charges have ever been brought against him in the McCann case and he denies any involvement.
