A climbing instructor has been sent to jail for committing child sex abuse.

A person who sexually abused young climbers during lessons has been sent to jail.According to Greater Manchester Police (GMP), 68 year old Alan Ellinson was said to expose himself and then ask his students to delve into his trousers for sweets.Between 2013 and 2015, when he was the owner and instructor at his family’s climbing company in Stockport, Ellinson repeatedly abused four children, all aged between 10 and 14.In court, Ellinson, who was from Poynton, Cheshire, denied indecent exposure and encouraging sexual activity with minors but was held guilty and given a five-year sentence.After Ellinson’s victim told her mother about what he did to her, she contacted the NSPCC.Afterward, the charity informed the police and authorities made an arrest in 2021.

Ellinson was employed by the business in Marple from 1993 for nearly 30 years, until it closed this year.He ran indoor climbing sessions for children ages six to 14.The police said: "He would carry sweets in his pockets and tell children to reach in and help themselves."Some said that they saw him get his penis out over the top of his trousers.At his police interview, Ellinson’s attitude was “obnoxious and arrogant”, according to GMP.He described his job as something he hated and called the kids who tried to climb up as "vindictive and feral".Det Con Lucy Williams said she was grateful to "the brave people who came forward after being victims of these terrible crimes".Ms. Bushwick said Ellinson broke her trust and that’s why he is now behind bars, where he belongs.Ellinson admitted three charges of indecent exposure and four counts of encouraging a child under 13 to take part in sexual activity.The judge decided to keep him on the Sex Offenders Register for life and also put a Sexual Harm Prevention Order on him for 10 years.
